Belmont Shore Business Association (BSBA)

The purpose of the Belmont Shore Business Association is to form a common bond among business owners located in and around the Belmont Shore area whose goals are to promote, protect, and maintain prosperity for the Belmont Shore Community. This association is for its members and the immediate community, providing a united front to express opinions, protect tranquility and promote a better understanding among merchants, institutions, professionals, as well as residents.

  • Promote Belmont Shore businesses to all area residents and more widely to Southern California.
  • Market Belmont Shore as a destination for dining, shopping, personal & professional services, and community events.
  • Work with vested residential and business community to promote and maintain prosperity of the area.
  • Collaborate with Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau to market Belmont Shore to the tourist and convention markets.
  • Continue to provide safe and fun events for the Belmont Shore community.
  • Seek corporate and private funding to supplement the BSBA budget and provide for more widely publicized events.

Each goal is accomplished through an aggressive and well-rounded work plan of special projects, marketing activities, and community events.

BSBA Structure

This Corporation was incorporated on May 21, 1948 as a non-profit Corporation (501 (c) 6 non-profit. The BSBA has over 250 businesses. Each business in the District is assessed annually by the City of Long Beach and these funds are then forwarded to the BIA for activities focused on revitalization, promotion & marketing.

An elected 12-member Board of Directors governs the Association and association work is accomplished through working with an Executive Director, part-time staff and the membership.

BEAUTIFICATION

Representatives from the BSBA Board and the BSBA Executive Office attend the monthly meetings of the Belmont Shore Parking and Improvement Commission. The priority of the association has been to keep Belmont Shore litter and graffiti free. Trash is picked up twice a day, seven days a week along with daily sweeping. Big Belly Solar trashcans have been added and the goal is to have all solar trashcans in The Shore. Streets are power washed every 1-2 weeks depending on time of year. Alleys are maintained and power washed every quarter. The Conservation Corps (CCLB) and Spectrum, which has a contract with the Belmont Shore Parking and Improvement Commission, perform this effort.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The Executive Director continues to make an effort to communicate Belmont Shore's progress, changes, and BSBA promotions to local residents at the Belmont Shore Resident's Association (BSRA), Friends of Belmont Shore resident's group each month; the Council of Business Association (COBA) monthly meetings and also speaks at other community meetings where invited.

EVENTS

The BSBA hosts several events every year. The events gain exposure for Belmont Shore through press coverage and by drawing thousands to the area. Many businesses benefit directly from the events. All members can benefit from the additional visitors who may not purchase from them on that day, but may make a point to return as they have come to know all that Belmont Shore has to offer.

The association continues to analyze its events and determine which ones are beneficial to the district and if any should be discontinued. This is discussed at the BSBA Promotional & Marketing meetings held quarterly.

POLICING

A representative from the Long Beach Police Department East Division attends our monthly board meetings. The officer has provided members with safety issues and tips for Belmont Shore businesses. Members have also communicated their concerns to the officers. The BSBA office has served as a liaison between police and businesses communicating suspicious activity, nuisances and safety concerns. The LBPD Eastside Commander and police personnel hold a quarterly meeting with restaurants & bars to discuss concerns and maintain communication.

4th St. Retro Row

2300 E. 4th Street
Long Beach , CA 90814

Dubbed "Retro Row," 4th Street is where the vibrancy and creative spirit of Long Beach lives! Stretching between Cherry and Junipero, the district is home to an exciting group of 40+ independent merchants. Kitchy and hip and always hospitable, 4th Street features vintage & contemporary clothing, furniture & accessories, art, antiques & collectibles, books, roller skates & skate boards as well as a locally owned restaurants, coffee shops and wine bars. We also boast salon and health & fitness services, too. Adding to the retro vibe of the street is the restored 1920's Art Theatre, which hosts a mix of first-run and art films, live concerts & comedy and other unique events. 4th Street is one of the few designated bike-friendly business districts in the city and has been featured in the pages of the New York Times as well as New York, Sunset and Los Angeles magazines.

Fourth Street is a community that brings business, residents and visitors together in celebration of independence and diversity. Diversity means everyone looks different and cares about different things. Diversity means each storefront and residence has a personality unto itself. Diversity means we create experiences you won't find elsewhere. Diversity means that our difference is our biggest strength.

Fourth Street is a creative launching pad for ideas and enterprises. We live in support of originality and independent thinking to create an environment where everyone is free to live and create as they want. The more unique ideas, personalities and lifestyles we have, the better we are and the closer we become.

Fourth Street was born of authentic roots. Nothing has been manufactured. We grew organically from a few personalities with a vision for a completely different kind of culture and experience. We celebrate and use our legacy as a roadmap for the future to make sure we maintain our independence while always making progress and reinventing ourselves along the way. Fourth Street means the freedom to live the way you want, shop somewhere special, and eat something different.
